For the past year I have been living with pelvic/back/leg dysfunction and have almost given up hope I would be able to walk “normal” without the sensation of weakness and my right leg buckling. The journey to find a definitive diagnosis has been long and frustrating. Visits to my primary care physician (PCP), three neurologists, orthopedic surgeon, physical therapist, chiropractor, acupuncturist, and a whole slew of tests with the hope that a definitive diagnose would be found. All tests came back “normal”, this was good news/bad news; while the results eliminated some serious medical conditions I was frustrated that nothing was detected as the root cause of my issues.For one year the emotional roller coaster was all consuming; would a diagnosis ever be found? Is this my new normal?In June 2024 I saw a massage therapist for severe muscle tension; after working on my back, pelvis, and legs she asked, “have you seen a physical therapist for your issues? I know of a clinic that might be able to help you, they are The Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT)”. That same day I did some research on DPT and read the patient stories, reviews, and about Dr. Tom Padilla and his philosophy for treating patients who have almost given up hope.DPT offered a complimentary Discovery Consultation to determine if they can help address my issues; during the consultation, Dr. Tom and Dr. Tyler were able to pinpoint the probable cause of my pelvic/back/leg problems through some mobility, strength, and functional tests. Finally a definitive diagnosis!Within a few days I had a comprehensive examination, an explanation of the plan of care designed to help me address my condition, and was prescribed exercises to do at home. I walked out of the clinic with renewed hope.Current state:I just completed eight of twelve treatments and have made noticeable improvements in my ability to walk without any weaknesses in my pelvic region or leg. The sensation of my leg buckling is now sporadic rather than constant. The weakness still pops up but not on a daily basis.DPT’s plan of care approach includes a constant process of checks and balances. The simple yet effective “treat and verify” philosophy using comparative testing each visit gives me confidence of my treatment and a means of evaluating progress.Additionally, I appreciate the therapist being side-by-side with me for my entire session; never have I been told to do an exercise and be left alone while the therapist attends to another patient. This has been a stark contrast from my previous experience with other Physical Therapy clinics; each time I had to share my PT time with 2-3 other patients. Of course, this left me knowing my one hour PT session would only amount to about 15-20 mins of one-on-one time if I was lucky. Needless to say, I stopped those sessions short of what was required.Finally, the entire DPT staff is by far the best in class. I'd like to personally recommend this office simply on Tom Padilla. The price is possibly too high for some individuals, but is certainly worth it! While there were intial issues communicating with the office on the insurance, Tom personally went above and beyond to resolve the issue. I started my journey with DPT after vertigo and chronic tension headaches became an every day struggle. I had become sedentary and my formerly athletic build was weak. My initial consult with Dr. Tom was very insightful, he listened to my concerns and performed muscle/ strength testing that day, then provided detailed anatomical explanation for the cause of my concerns as well as targeted treatment goals. I spent a wonderful 12 sessions with the therapists at DPT and am so pleased with results. I loved that I rotated with each therapist for my 1:1 full hour session. There was constant tweaking of my at home exercises and helpful feedback to improve my form. New location is great. It really means so much when everyone in an office as busy as this one knows your name and treats you like family. Pricing is an investment in yourself and 100% worth it. I no longer experience any vertigo, muscles are strong and making progress in my lifting journey, and headaches are very rare. Absolutely would recommend!

Dr. Zak at DPT has been great! My husband had been seeing him for a while and had great results with his back issues, so he encouraged me to go. I’ve had pain in my right big toe and foot when walking for 5-6 years. A podiatrist had told me about a year into it that it was arthritis and all I could do was use pain relievers and inevitably get surgery when the toe locked up. Over the past year, my whole right side from the low back to my toe had become very tight and sometimes painful. It was to the point that when getting up after sitting, getting out of the car after driving, or walking or standing too long, I would have to limp the right leg along for a while because my hip and side of the leg felt locked up and the toe felt painfully jammed. After my first appointment with Dr. Zak, there was already noticeable improvement and relief, and I have not had my right side lock up anymore. I’ve been working with him for about 4 weeks and am very happy with the progress I’ve made so far. Dr. Zak takes time to listen, fully understand the problem, and explain the possible causes. I do not feel like a number or like I’m being given a general pre-set list of exercises. Dr. Zak is very knowledgeable and takes the time to find the root of the problem and adjust the PT to your specific needs. The DPT office is clean and inviting, and everyone at the front desk has been friendly and helpful. I was very reluctant to try this at first, but it has been worth it!

As an athlete I've had a plethora of physios, trainers and PTs. By far Tom and his crew have always been the most resourceful, intuitive and helpful Physical Therapists I have worked with. I have had the opportunity to know Tom Padilla for many years now and he has helped me through strains, breaks and nagging pain. I have seen Dr. Zak over the years for various things but our best work started with me wanting to just move well so I could stay active and competitive into my 40s. Over our 15 sessions my spine got straightened out, my core and back started firing right, and we got my hips working correctly which solved the knee pain I have been fighting for years. It took a lot of work and Zak was a great coach to make sure I was on the right path. Now, I feel very connected to my movements and understand how the smallest thing make can make a major impact. The feeling of exercising with correct movements and the ability to give max effort without worry is amazing. I would see him every week if I could.

In December of 2023, I had reached the point where I could hardly stand or walk because my right hip had become dysfunctional. I decided to try Physical Therapy with EMTT, a technology that few PT doctors have. That led me to Dr. Tom for an assessment, which coincidently, matched the diagnosis and exam from a well known Neurologist that I had received earlier that fall. As a healthcare CEO myself, I was impressed with Dr. Tom's knowledge and confidence that they could restore full function and eliminate the constant pain in my hip. I was dubious to say the least. But we decided on a 10 visit regimen of physical therapy augmented by EMTT. Although the PT was difficult, the EMTT was easy and an effective addition. Within 2 visits I noticed a significant improvement and by the 5th visit I was walking and standing normally without pain. Now it's just a matter of continuing the strengthening exercises at home to restore my ability to actually climb stairs or hike trails, which I'm not doing successfully without pain. Frankly, I cannot believe the level of improvement given that I was practically disabled from the hip dysfunction. Dr. Tom and his team know what they are doing but you will also have to do your part to achieve an excellent outcome. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate them a 10. I am a runner and had a host of injuries and issues as a result of a fall and the wear and tear of running. I had been running in a lot of pain and was really slowed down as a result. A friend recommended DPT to me, and I am so thankful. I have made so much progress because of working with Dr. Taylor and feel like I got very personalized and targeted treatment and therapy that I would not have gotten elsewhere. Dr Taylor - My other Doc there deserves a review as well. They work as a team to give you the best outcome possible ! It's quite unlike any other PTs I have been too...and I have been to many over the years. Her detailed session measurements are a "real" way to quantify the work and the solutions. It's never something I have seen before. Normally you are shown and exercise - then stuck on a machine to do it and then rotated to your next exercise . NOT here! if the outcome is not quite as planned, it's a calculated adjustment - measurements taken, and then a new plan implemented. I love it! I also love that they are hands on with your muscle movements and adjustments. I like that your practitioner is changed part way thought your treatment plan and Tom ( The owner - head DoPT) does an assessment as well, so that a fresh perspective will add to your treatment plan. Best experience at a PT! BY FAR.

Dr Taylor and Dr Tom and the team at DPT are awesome. I was having hip/leg/back pain that plagued me for over a year. While this was not an easy problem with a quick fix, we were able to work through it. They did not give up on me when things got tough and moved around. They kept at it and tried new things. Now, I am grateful to say, we have relieved the pain and I am back to doing the things I enjoy. By getting things aligned, the muscles firing and stronger along with a good stretching routine the doctors have gotten me to a solution and past just temporary relief. Dr. Tom and his team are the best! I had been to 7+ physical therapists for my rather complex injury. None of them have been as understanding or as holisitc as Tom and his team. Dr. Tom is an amazing listener. Every session I went in, he was always able to take what I gave him during our one on one and come up with an exercise that would help. Dr. Tom is also very connected to other healthcare professionals in the area. While working with him, he let me know who else I needed to see in order to make the full recovery I wanted. If not for his knowledge and this comprehensive approach, I would not have known who else to contact and why. I always felt like Dr. Tom 1) understood complex cases and 2) had my best interest in mind, which in my experience as a patient is hard to come by. I never quite recovered from knee surgery (meniscus) and was starting to have problems in day to day activities as simple as entering/exiting a vehicle. Doctor Tyler is a miracle worker. I am 50, very active with hiking, skiing, swimming, and gym. However, a longer career as an attorney seated at my desk has taken its toll on my mobility. Dr. Tyler's target exercise programs targeting certain weakened muscles have brought back my strength and flexibility. Plus, Dr. Tyler is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and motivated. I came to DPT with significant left side shoulder pain. Lifting my arm was very difficult. After a thorough exam, Dr. Taylor focused in on the causes and went to work. Mobility improved dramatically after only two sessions. Now as my sessions come to an end, my mobility is very good, strength is increasing and pain is minimal. Went to DPT with rotator cuff issues back in Nov and the experience has been extremely positive. Worked with all 3 Dr's (Tom, Tyler and Taylor) on the rehab and there level of professionalism and knowledge was exceptional. I had torn my rotator cuff about 8 months prior and tried many exercises unsuccessfully prior to DPT. As I am a part timer in Arizona the video remote appointment worked well to keep my rehab moving forward when I was not here. I would highly recommend DPT for any physical therapy, there ultimate goal is to get all client issues sorted.

I did a Google search and found the Doctors of Physical Therapy here in Scottsdale, Arizona. They contacted me for a phone chat and then I went in for 30 minute discovery visit. In the two weeks that I have been going there Dr. Tom and Dr. Tyler have been amazing and I am 75% improved. I highly recommend the Doctors of Physical Therapy. They answer your questions and explain everything in detail so you know exactly what the issue is and what is causing your pain. I was new to the area and have been dealing with sciatica since my knee replacements one year ago and could not seem to cure the sciatica pain. Googled sciatica and physical therapists and found DPT. Based on the amazing reviews I decided to check it out. I have been coming here one month and the pain is almost gone. Best PT in the business & best decision I’ve ever made for my long term health and wellbeing. Came in with a separated shoulder (Grade III) not being able to do any chest, shoulder, or arm lifts without intense pain. After only a couple months of treatment, I not only was able to perform those lifts again, but also gained a deep understanding of how to properly engage through the shoulder and core to avoid any further injury or overcompensation by the surrounding muscles. Top tier service, with the friendliest and most knowledgeable doctors who actually take the time to understand your situation and set you up for success. 10/10. 2 years later and I still experience no pain while doing exercises I previously had thought were out of the question.

Found this clinic on the internet, browsed through AZ physical therapists, looking for a solution to my crippledness, at only 60. What had happened, how did I get here. Two or three ortopedists over the years had told me I needed knee surgery. I just did not want to address this situation. Could not sit and get up from the toilet, getting up from a chair I looked like the octopus in the sea, all over the place.At DPT Dr. TOM actually told me what was wrong with me and a path to reverse my condition. No drugs, no infiltration, no surgery. But all the right moves, the tailored exercises for me.I go to the gym and watch the people on the floor mats, I do my physical therapy exercises there.It is very important to know that the therapy is for my problem, I watch videos on ytube too, but I am aware that every person is different.Today I completed by 7th session, also doing the EMTT machine. I am super happy, are doing my part of course, following up on the homework exercise at home or at the gym.If you are looking for the right physical therapist look no more. DPT is it!!!!!

Here is the mini review, this place was worth every penny. Full review below.I am in my late 40’s, and work in Law Enforcement. I injured what I thought was my back and had to go to the ER. I was told I was just getting older and they gave me pain meds and may need back surgery. After two weeks of extreme pain, I found this website was willing to try anything.I was able to be seen within 24hours. Dr. Tom was able to explain it was not my back, but several muscles that were weaken and allowing sciatica nerve to be pinched. Dr. Tom explained a treatment plan to calm the nerve pain down and believed there was no need for surgery. I honestly was very skeptical, but again willing to try anything.Started PT the next day. I was amazed at how hitting a few muscle release points reduced the pain. Two visits in and I no longer needed any pain meds.Next stage, was focusing on strengthening exercises. They were on point and I could feel the improvement with each session.Final appointment is today, I feel stronger than I have in years. Back into cycling and weight training that other doctors said I would not be able to do again.My team was always organized and willing to address every concern. Office staff should be an example to doctor offices.This place has given me back my freedom and strength. As a skeptic, I can say this place is legit.

Although I have not seen Dr Tom in person, I did have a video consultation with him and what he's describing with short muscles and tight muscles. Some of both that I experience over years of non movement, plus actual injury. Everything in his podcast about short and tight muscles is absolutely great material to listen to. Sciatica! I am a former solider and retired Deputy Sheriff, and to be clear, would not wish this affliction on my worst enemy. I am 63 years old, 6'6" tall at about 230 lbs. when I literally "crawled" into DPT and met with Dr. Tom. To say I was in agony would be the understatement of a lifetime. I started therapy with he and his team and over the follow days, weeks, months, I have near full recovery (98%). Painful? Yes. As I sit here and write this, it is very uncomfortable for me to even recount my journey. A journey that the entire DPT team took with me, and stuck with, all the highs and lows until I was, and am, recovered. When I came to DPT I was worried I would never golf or do hard workouts again. I am 52 and kept re-injuring my back. My knee has bothered me since high school. After a consultation with Dr. Taylor, she informed me that that it wasn't my knee - it was my hip. Muscles in my leg had been compensating for decades and causing my knee pain. We started with streaching and excerises to activate muscles I haven't been using. After each session Dr. Taylor would also also work to releave my plantar fasciitis with a deep impact device.With each visit, little adjustments. What was I feeling? Where was I feeling it? Stretching and excercises to make adjustments in my progress. Each technique tailored to me and my body's response.Staff is very professional, personal, and patient.Two months later, my knee pain is almost gone. I am continuing to build strength in my previously dormant muscles. I have gone for long walks and sat on long flights without the need for my knee brace. This is not your typical physical therapy experience! The doctors here are very focused and able to dial into specific problem areas using multiple different therapies. This experience has been such a great one. I've never felt like physical therapy did more than the minimum that insurance would cover and have been proven wrong at DPT. Dr. Taylor and Dr. Tom have been amazing in teaching me that my knee is just the source of my pain and there are many other contributing things that are creating that pain and they are all connected. Had a great experience during my discovery visit! Have never needed physical therapy so didn’t exactly know what to expect. Dr. Tom was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to walk me through a plan of action on how I could get my shoulder back into shape. Would highly recommend!
